Meredith, et all

I recently visited Meredith Lambs's web page and viewed his SG seismo with a 
hall effect sensor.  Is the SG with hall effect sensor as sensitive as the 
original SG configuration?  What is the period range for an SG with hall 
effect sensors?  Is the electronics easier to make ( it certainly seems so).  
Any comments anyone has would be appreciated.
