Hello Larry Conklin,
Hey, I got a US Government monkey on my back
you can only have nightmares about.
It will be the early death of me since the stress
of their torment is what's going to be the deadly poison.
Every time I try to access certain websites
they are somehow able to mess with
my Internet connection rendering it useless
until I bitch about it, personally to Mediacom.
This monkey has been riding on my shoulders
since I became a member of the USA Military Nuclear triad
in 1970s. They wrongfully and maliciously labeled me a saboteur after exiting
the USN. I've been Ostracized Sort of like what happened to Jane Fonda
when she was photographed with those North Vietnamese.
But besides that,
I have decided to try and dust off my
old router and try that,
(Paid for, like everything else, by tax dollars)
I tried to connect last night the recorder,
but with no luck.
Spent hours trying to get everything to talk to everything.
but with no luck.
There must be a Microsoft/Government conspiracy
to keep easy networking out of hands of such as myself.
I will no longer ask this group for this kind of help
since I believe the enemy to be everywhere
the religious (Vs constitutional) public resides.
If I am unable to control, the scenario,
I can never expect positive results.
But I thank those who are honest and sincere in their responses.
Regards,
geoff

I was about to toss my two cent's worth on the table on this topic and
discovered that Bob Smither has already made most of the points I'd
intended to make.
I don't really understand why you're concerned about adding another
power using device to your system, but I think adding a basic router
would be very well worth it. For one thing, the router is also a very
effective hardware firewall that would make a BIG contribution to your
overall security from all sorts of hacker intrusions from the internet.
You don't need anything fancy or expensive. The cheapest router you can
get your hands on would do fine. And I think you would find that
getting everything set up and working to your satisfaction would wind up
being much easier in the long run.
