Hi Dave,

 

It sounds like some other part of the frame or boom is vibrating.  Some
tests I have used are 1. Put a mass on the frame below the boom - this will
in theory change the frequency of the vibration if the frame is bending and
oscillating.   2. Tape a stiffener to the boom and or support wire in
various combinations.-  Again this should cause a change in any vibration of
those parts.

 

I try to keep my damping vanes in a vertical orientation.  If the boom
begins to oscillate, the vertical motion is damped by the same system. 

 

The orientation of the pickup coil and magnets can increase of decrease how
much these other oscillations are actually amplified.
