Another question that I get asked often is what type of wire I used for the=
=20
ivot point. I ordered it from www.SmallParts.com which is another supplier=
=20
hat I like. It is called "music wire" and is .020 inches in diameter. The=
=20
art number is SMW-020-36-10 and is at
http://www.smallparts.com/dp/B001383CPS/ref=3Dsp_dp_g2c_asin
have plenty extra of the music wire if you want me to mail it to you.=20

Hi There,=20
Smallparts only sell Music Wire in coils of 10 lengths,=20
which amateur seismologists are unlikely to need and it is=20
plain steel wire! www.daddario.com sell Nickel plated music=20
wire (rust resistant!) in single string lengths and it is=20
available at Music Shops who cater for stringed instruments.=20
You might use 10 or 12 thou wire for AS1 type flex=20
suspensions. 20 thou is a bit thick in my experience. Piano=20
wire is really tough stuff ! Look for Mandolin strings ?
You can also wind your own springs from Music Wire, but=20
you need to twist it tightly before winding it onto a suitable=20
mandrel under quite a high constant tension. This does take=20
some skill and experience !
